$179.40/year * 3 = $528.20 over 3 years.
And CCP wants more of our money? What are they smoking in Iceland?
I still play games I bought over 3 years ago, that I payed only $50 for.
When you say "we" I assume you mean "I". Not sure why you can't trust them anymore. All of their official statements have been consistent and honest.
You do realise the Eve requires this thing called a "server", quite a big one in fact (or a lot of them, depending on how you visualise it). Servers are not free or cheap to run. In exchange for your $528.2 over three years, CCP maintained and allowed you access to their servers. It's a fair exchange, if at any point you don't feel your getting your moneys worth, stop paying.
1. "All of their official statements have been consistent and honest." I just don't believe for one minute that you are this stupid. I think you just copied the email text sent to you from the inept CCP marketing department.
2. Nice move. I didn't see this angle. The point is that we are paying you this money. But, the old server excuse. Let's answer that.
a. Your infrastructure costs are not nearly $46,482,140 per year. b. You are not spending this revenue on EVE anyway. It is all going to Dust and WOD. In fact the majority of it is, as you are up to your eye balls in debt.
thanks for playing
True, but he brings up a valid point. People tend to assume (or so it seems) that all sub cost go to the game (or games) and thats it. Here are some of the things CCP has to pay for:
-Overhead cost: -Monthly Rent -Ulilities (A/C, Heat, Water etc.) -Building Insurance -Taxes -Employee Cost -Employee Salaries including any Overtime worked (at least in the US - dont know about Iceland) -Employee Insurance -Employee Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision), Stock Options, raises etc -Employee Tax (EIN for the US office) -Vendor Costs -Equipment cost and maintenance (Printers, Fax Machines, etc) -Server Costs and maintenance (In any Internet based business, this will be a significant cost to business) -Administrative Cost -Legal Costs -Misc Costs (CSM Meetings, EVE Fanfest, Allaince Tournament etc) -Telecommunications costs
Im sure there are more, but these are just some of the things that I can think of. Once these are paid, THEN and ONLY then can CCP pump money into their Internet Spaceship game or Vampire game. This is how it works in the real business world, or at least in the business world that I am apart of.
